----IN 1999, Arcane comics was reborn as Pantheon Press. The new partnership agreement named Jaimel Hemphill as Editor-in-Chief, but without Davon, the task of running the day-to-day operations of the company fell to him.

-----As Pantheon, the company began to take on a more aggressive convention schedule, making trips to Los Angeles, Oakland, and San Francisco. The core group now consisted of Jaimel Hemphill, Dave Young, Steve Donaldson, Abdoual Edmond, Kahari Williams, and sometimes Kevin Kendrick and Javier Gonzalez, although both operated on a part-time schedule. To reflect the ethnic diversity within the company, Pantheon's logo was actually made up of four symbols: Egyptian, Celtic, Japanese, and Mexican. It became apparent that in order to compete with the mainstream publications, Pantheon would need to expand its talent pool. Kevin Kendrick became the first to break the mold of the "one-man show" comics by hiring Gabe Acuna as the artist for his book. This brought on a new problem. Who was responsible for paying this artist: the company, or the the creator? It was deemed that the company would cover the expense, but when some of the other creators followed suit, still others decided they didn't want to cover the cost of someone not working on their book. The democratic nature of a partnership started to take its toll on Pantheon Press, just as it had done with Arcane Comics before it.

-----As 1999 came to a close, production had come to a standstill. Each member had grown as a person, and some were realizing that comics may not be the field for them. For those that stayed, all were frustrated with lack of progress, and the leadership was held accountable. The partnership held another meeting, and Jaimel Hemphill was asked to step down as Editor-in-Chief. He acquiesced in November of 1999, leaving the company for good. Pantheon Press went its own way from then on, ultimately disbanding in January of 2000. Where, then, does that leave us? Well, you didn't think Jaimel was just gonna walk away from his comics, now did you...?
